A German teacher, Marc Villain has devoted his career to international, European and cultural relations.
He began his career at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bonn (1982-1988) before joining the French Embassy in Germany as a cultural attaché (1988-1992). He then held key positions within the European cultural channel ARTE in Strasbourg, where he was Chief of Staff to the President (1992-1997), Director of Communication and Marketing (1997-1999), then Director of International Development (2000-2001).
From 2001 to 2005, Marc Villain worked as a cultural and scientific advisor at the French Embassy in Belgium. He then joined the Directorate-General for Communication of the European Commission in Brussels as a seconded national expert (2006-2010).
Back in France, he worked at the General Secretariat for European Affairs (2010-2012), where he focused on the sectors of labor, employment, education and health. He then continued his career at the Ministry of National Education and Higher Education (2013-2015), in the Directorate of European and International Relations.
